Tolono Unity is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Everything went their way against Tri-Valley as they made off with a 9-3 win. The Rockets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 20 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Lindy Bates made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted over her last eight games. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grace Bickers, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Kenley Harris was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Tolono Unity hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tri-Valley struck out eight times.
Meanwhile, Marshall won against Paris on Tuesday with one run and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Lions didn't even let Teutopolis on the board, marking the Lions' second-straight 1-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Wooden Shoes: they've now won three in a row.
Not much got past Haley McGuire, who gave up just five hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Teutopolis off the board. McGuire has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Marshall saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lynn Welborn, who went 1-for-4 with one run.
Tolono Unity's record is now 31-4. As for Marshall, their record now sits at 22-8.
Tolono Unity was able to grind out a solid win over Marshall in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, winning 3-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rockets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
