Basketball Recap: Unaka Has No Trouble Against Washburn

Unaka won the last time they faced Washburn and things went their way on Monday too. The Unaka Rangers strolled past the Washburn Pirates with points to spare, taking the game 75-58. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rangers.

Several Pirates players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dillon Mullins, who went 7-for-13 on his way to 18 points. The contest was Mullins' seventh in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Matthew Harville, who posted 12 points and five boards.

Unaka pushed their record up to 15-9 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.7 points over those games. As for Washburn, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-18.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Unaka will venture away from home to square off against University School at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Unaka knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully University School likes a good challenge. As for Washburn, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Clinch at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
