Softball Recap: Daleville Turns Things Around After Road Loss

Daleville's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Wes-Del on Wednesday. Everything went the Broncos' way against the Cambridge City Lincoln Golden Eagles as they made off with a 14-1 win. This was payback for the Broncos, who suffered a 2-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Rylan Leonard was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Leonard was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Valyn Pattengale was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and two stolen bases while going 4-for-4. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Maddie Rees was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Daleville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cambridge City Lincoln only posted an OBP of .167.

Daleville now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Cambridge City Lincoln, their record is now 2-2.

Looking ahead, Daleville will be playing in front of their home fans against Monroe Central at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Broncos are facing the Golden Bears at the right time seeing as the Golden Bears are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Cambridge City Lincoln, they will head out on the road to face off against Knightstown at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. This will be the Golden Eagles' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
