Killian (Miami, Fla.) held on for a 21-17 victory over
Columbus (Miami, Fla.) on Saturday. The difference for the Cougars was it threw a touchdown.
After taking the lead on a
Lorenzo Woodley Iii touchdown run, the Explorers went into halftime with a 14-0 lead. The Cougars took the lead for good with a passing touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring seven points in the third, Killian still trailed by 10 points going into the fourth quarter. But 14 points in the fourth helped KHS pull out the victory.
Woodley Iii made a difference for Columbus. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns.
Led by
Jaquan Johnson, the Cougars came into the game allowing 10.9 points per game.
The victory is a complete turnaround from last season's game between these two teams, which CHS took, 34-13.
The defeat comes as a step back for Columbus, which notched a 35-0 victory over South Miami in its previous outing. The loss snapped the Explorers' 2-game winning streak. With the win Killian extended its winning streak to four games.
