It was a good run, but the Pershing County Mustangs unfortunately witnessed the end of their 12-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of North Tahoe by a score of 31-28. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Pershing County has scored all season.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aaliyah Allen, who scored five points along with four steals and three blocks. Allen hasn't dropped below two blocks for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Harvey, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
North Tahoe's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Makenna Alter led the charge by scoring eight points. Alana Hendricks was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Pershing County's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-1. As for North Tahoe, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pershing County will take on Oasis Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Oasis Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 36 on Friday. As for North Tahoe, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Incline at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Incline comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
