The Avella Eagles lost against the West Greene Pioneers back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Avella fell just short of West Greene by a score of 55-52. Avella has not had much luck with West Greene recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West Greene to victory, but perhaps none more so than Parker Burns, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. Matthew Wassil was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Avella now has a losing record at 1-2. As for West Greene, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Avella will take on Bentworth at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Bentworth focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday. As for West Greene, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Frazier at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Frazier comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
