Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Bree White and Morgan Wearsch Lead St. Joseph Academy to Victory

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Magnificat, St. Joseph Academy was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They took down the Brunswick Blue Devils 56-37. Given the Jaguars' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 176th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 372nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

St. Joseph Academy was led to victory by Morgan Wearsch and Bree White. Wearsch posted 12 points and seven boards, while White went 5 of 9 on her way to 12 points and five rebounds. White has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Melanie Alvarenga was another key player, putting up four points and five rebounds.

St. Joseph Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 3-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.5 points per game. As for Brunswick, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the St. Joseph Academy Jaguars face off against the Howland Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Brunswick will take on Highland in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Highland will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Brunswick surely won't give up without a fight.
