The Fleming Wildcats won the last time they faced the Prairie Mustangs, and things went their way on Saturday too. Fleming sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 37-35 win over Prairie. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Fleming has scored all year.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fleming to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ciana Lousberg, who scored 13 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lousberg has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Tori Champ, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and four steals.
When it comes to explaining why Prairie lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kendra Sutter. Despite the final result, she scored six points along with five assists and five rebounds. Sutter is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Kugler, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Fleming is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Prairie, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fleming will take on Peetz at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Peetz will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 296th, while Fleming is ranked 69th). Prairie will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Potter-Dix at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Potter-Dix comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
