Aquinas is 10-0 against La Crosse Central since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Aquinas Blugolds will be playing at home against the La Crosse Central Riverhawks at 7:15 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Aquinas has three straight wins, La Crosse Central has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Aquinas put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They blew past Tomah 82-41 on the road. Given Aquinas' advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Tomah is ranked 358th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Aquinas found their leader in underclassman Samantha Davis, who scored 27 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Davis hasn't dropped below 15points for 15 straight games. Another player making a difference was Madeline Murphy, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, La Crosse Central came up short against Onalaska on Monday and fell 58-50. La Crosse Central has struggled against Onalaska recently, as their contest on Monday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Aquinas pushed their record up to 14-3 with that win, which was their 14th straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.9 points per game. As for La Crosse Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.
Aquinas beat La Crosse Central 59-47 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Does Aquinas have another victory up their sleeve, or will La Crosse Central turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
