Basketball Recap: Torrance's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Torrance came tearing into Thursday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 points) and they left with even more momentum. They snuck past the Laguna Beach Breakers with a 67-61 victory. Given the Tartars' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 256th, while the Breakers are ranked 796th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Brody Azadian and Ryan Cheng certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Azadian posted 23 points, while Cheng put up 18 points. Azadian is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Damian Reider, who had nine points.

Torrance is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.5 points per game. As for Laguna Beach, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.

Torrance didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 61-52 win against La Quinta on the 27th. As for Laguna Beach, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 75-20 victory against Yucca Valley on the 27th.
