The Galena Pirates will head out on the road to face off against the Amboy Clippers at 5:30 p.m. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Galena pushed their score all the way to 63 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 78-63 fall against Pecatonica. While losing is never fun, Galena can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 257th, while Pecatonica is ranked 23rd).
The losing side was boosted by Connor Glasgow, who went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 31 points and 0 assists. The game was his 11th in a row with at least ten points. Myles Schumacher was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Meanwhile, Amboy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by South Beloit 62-28. Amboy has struggled against South Beloit recently, as their game on Saturday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
This is the second loss in a row for Galena and nudges their season record down to 6-5. As for Amboy, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Galena against Amboy when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 73-30 victory. Will Galena repeat their success, or does Amboy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
