The ThunderRidge Grizzlies gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They breezed by Mesa Ridge at home to the tune of 67-37. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up ten more assists than your opponent, as ThunderRidge did.
ThunderRidge got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Chloe Parker out in front who scored 16 points along with 4 steals. Alexis Coffield was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
When it comes to explaining why Mesa Ridge lost, one person who can't be blamed is Bray Pelt. Despite the final result, she scored 22 points along with 5 rebounds. Pelt scored a full 59.5% of Mesa Ridge's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
ThunderRidge's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Mesa Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
ThunderRidge will face off against Mullen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Mullen focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Wednesday. Mesa Ridge is on the road again on Friday and play against Westminster at 5:30 p.m. on December 1st.
