The Meigs County Tigers will venture away from home to take on the Roane County Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Meigs County barely beat Midway the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Meigs County never let Midway get on the board and left with a 13-0 win on Tuesday. The Tigers have beaten the Green Wave the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Green Wave has come to flipping the script.
Meanwhile, Roane County put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on McMinn Central with a sharp 11-0 victory. The Yellowjackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 11 runs or more this season.
Sailor Presley was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 19 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Mylah Dryman and Rhyan Henslee did most of the damage at the plate: Dryman went a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Henslee went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave Dryman a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lena Groover, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.
Roane County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McMinn Central only posted a batting average of .000.
The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-5. As for Roane County, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-0.
Meigs County was able to grind out a solid win over Roane County when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 8-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for Meigs County since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
