Softball Recap: Hillsboro Snags Sixth Win in Last Eight Games

While Hillsboro didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-17-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against Crowley on Friday as Hillsboro made off with a 15-7 win. Hillsboro might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by eight runs or more this season.

Hillsboro let Arrya Garrett and Jayda Monroy run wild. Garrett scored three runs while going 2-for-2, while Monroy scored three runs while going 2-for-2. Those three runs gave Monroy a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Laci Forns, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Hillsboro was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .684. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in nine consecutive contests.

Hillsboro has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. Crowley now has a losing record of 5-6-1.

Hillsboro has already played their next match, a 12-2 victory against Kemp on the 28th. As for Crowley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 8-8 draw against Maypearl on the 28th.
