They were dealt a 55-22 loss at the hands of the Edgewood Academy Wildcats. The Rebels were not able to make up for their defeat to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in January of 2017.
Edgewood Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Avery White out in front who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 16 boards. The dominant performance gave White a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexie Smith, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten steals.
Bessemer Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Edgewood Academy, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bessemer Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off.
