Pottsgrove extended the longest winning streak in Pioneer this week by beating Owen J. Roberts, 59-7. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Falcons.
Pottsgrove suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after beating the Wildcats. Rick Pennypacker's team had been ranked 24th, but fell to 36.
Michael Fowler was the best wideout in the league this week as the Falcons beat Owen J. Roberts. Fowler racked up two receptions for 61 yards.
Matt Mesaros provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Pope John Paul II fell to Perkiomen Valley. He completed 16 passes for 213 yards and one touchdown and also ran for seven yards. Mesaros' favorite target this week was Chris Veisbergs, who caught four passes for 58 yards.
Hank Coyne put up the best numbers through the air as Spring-Ford defeated Methacton. He finished with 17 completions for 166 yards and three touchdowns. Coyne's favorite target this week was Gary Hopkins, who caught five passes for 50 yards.
Mark Dukes was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 157 yards on 15 carries as Pottsgrove bested Tom Barr's team. Tory Hudgins also contributed to the rushing game with 112 yards on the ground.
Thanks to the talents of Sage Reinhart and Monroe Hampton Pottstown has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Reinhart leads the league in passing with 1225 yards, while Hampton has rushed for 829 yards this season. Pope John Paul II's Veisbergs leads the league in receiving yards with 474 on 21 catches.
A big matchup in Pioneer this week will be when the Trojans take on the Falcons. Pottstown is currently in fourth, while Pottsgrove is in first.
The Falcons took down the Wildcats 59-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Dukes in the win.
