The Waldron Mohawks suffered their biggest loss since December 1, 2023 on Thursday. Their tough 61-36 defeat to New Palestine might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Waldron can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 279th, while New Palestine is ranked 120th).
Waldron's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Alivia Fischer, who scored 11 points along with two blocks, and Grace Fischer who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. Fischer has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last five times she's played.
Allie Blum was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds for New Palestine. Blum hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Vivian Miller was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Waldron bumped their record down to 6-13 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for New Palestine, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 11-9 record this season.
Waldron on the road again on Tuesday and play against Edinburgh at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Edinburgh is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak. As for New Palestine, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Greensburg at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Greensburg's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five contests.
