The Bald Eagle Area Eagles will challenge the Huntingdon Bearcats at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Bald Eagle Area is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
Thursday just wasn't the day for Bald Eagle Area's offense. They fell 3-0 to Williamsport on Thursday. The game marked the first time this year in which the Eagles were not able to get on the board.
Harlee Witherite spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Bald Eagle Area saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Raelee Repasky, who went 2-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, Huntingdon waltzed into their matchup on Monday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Eagles 12-2. Considering the Bearcats have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Huntingdon also let their pitcher toss all six innings played and she was also dialed-in: Kendyl Wilson gave up just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Huntingdon let Mckaela Brown and Alivia Nicklow run wild. Brown went 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs, while Nicklow went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Nicklow a new career-high. Leah Beck was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Huntingdon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bald Eagle Area only posted a batting average of .360.
Bald Eagle Area's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-6. As for Huntingdon, their victory bumped their record up to 15-5.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bald Eagle Area hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. However, it's not like Huntingdon struggles in that department as they've averaged .398. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bald Eagle Area might still be hurting after the 12-2 defeat they got from Huntingdon when the teams last played on Monday. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
