Basketball Recap: River Ridge Takes a Loss

River Ridge's tournament run continued when they took on Mundy's Mill on Monday. The River Ridge Royal Knights took a 98-79 bruising from the Mundy's Mill Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Royal Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 472nd in Florida, while the Tigers are ranked 224th in Georgia).

Despite the loss, River Ridge still got an impressive performance from Jacob Yeager, who went 10 of 19 on his way to 32 points and three steals. The match was Yeager's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonathan Casarez, who posted ten points.

Mundy's Mill got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Michael Gray out in front who went 10 of 12 on his way to 29 points and six steals. Gray has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ryan Babb, who went 9 of 13 on his way to 26 points in addition to six assists and six boards.

River Ridge has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season. As for Mundy's Mill, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-5.

River Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 89-74 victory against Pasco on the 8th. As for Mundy's Mill, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 62-57 win against Northside on the 3rd.
