Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaylen Britt, who picked up 121 receiving yards and one score. John Matthews also helped out with an impressive 84 receiving yards.
Woody Schettini had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 192 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry for Northgate. Schettini really tore up the turf during one magnificent 79-yard run.
Having lost for the first time this season, Newnan fell to 3-1. As for Northgate, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newnan will take on Morrow at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Northgate, they will square off against Banneker at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings will be up against the Trojans' rather soft defense (which has allowed 31.75 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
