After a string of four wins, Holy Family's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They came up short against the Mead Mavericks, falling 10-3. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mavericks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
Dustin Bennett was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Logan Seifarth also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.
Holy Family suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 5-2. As for Mead, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1.
Looking ahead, Holy Family will challenge Palisade at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Mead, they will face off against University at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. University will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Mead surely won't give up without a fight.
