Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Taft Eagles, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 35-13 walloping at the hands of Whitney Young on Friday. Taft has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Whitney Young's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Anthony Hood, who rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns. Whitney Young also got a significant boost from Nasir Rankin, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 82 yards.
Taft has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Whitney Young, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Taft does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Whitney Young will be playing at home against Simeon at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Illinois (Simeon is ranked 179th, while Whitney Young is ranked 167th).
