Softball Recap: Umatilla Takes a Loss

Umatilla lost against Taylor on March 6th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Umatilla took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Taylor. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jaelyn Larsen put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Larsen was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Kiersten Hunsicker made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Even though they lost, Umatilla was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

Umatilla's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Taylor, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Umatilla wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 8-5 victory against Tavares on the 27th. As for Taylor, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 7-2 defeat against Spruce Creek on the 27th.
