Gloucester is a perfect 10-0 against Phoebus since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Dukes will welcome the Phantoms at 4:30 p.m. Gloucester's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Phoebus' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Gloucester will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Bethel on Thursday. The Dukes walked away with a 10-6 victory over the Bruins. Considering the Dukes' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Trevor Richardson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered six earned runs on ten hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Tyler Boulay was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season. Landon Morris was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Phoebus might've scored the first runs on Thursday, but it was Kecoughtan who claimed the real prize. The Phantoms came up short against the Warriors, falling 15-2. The Phantoms have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Phoebus saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josiah (Beaux) Moore, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Gloucester has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Phoebus, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Gloucester has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Phoebus struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Gloucester took their win against Phoebus when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 12-2 score. Will the Dukes repeat their success, or do the Phantoms have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
