Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Vigor walked away with it. They blew past the Charles Henderson Trojans 40-16 on Friday. The Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by 22 points or more this season.
Sammy Dunn had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 261 yards and four touchdowns on only 19 passes. Those four passing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Gerritt Holcombe was Dunn's top target, picking up 100 receiving yards and one TD, while also punching in one score on the ground.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Vigor's defense and their 4.5 sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Isaac McNeil and Jabarrius Garror, who racked up all 4.5 sacks between them. Garror has become a key player for Vigor: the team is undefeated when he posts at least one sack, but 1-2 otherwise. The Wolves received some extra help from Garror, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Despite the loss, Charles Henderson still got an impressive performance from Joshaun Daniel, who rushed for 134 yards and one touchdown while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. The Trojans also got help from Braylon Banks, who showed off his sure hands for 81 receiving yards.
Vigor's record now sits at 9-2. As for Charles Henderson, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
Vigor wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 49-28 victory against Northside on the 14th. Charles Henderson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
