Horton is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Valley Falls a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Thursday. The Horton Chargers will be playing at home against the Valley Falls Dragons at 4:30 p.m. Horton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
Horton took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Jefferson County North, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Horton narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Jefferson County North 8-7.
Kirsten Smith was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. Smith was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

In other batting news, Bobbi Becker was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Alaina Switch was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Valley Falls suffered their closest defeat since March 30th on Monday. They fell just short of Jackson Heights by a score of 5-3.
Gracie Conner and Taygen Pannell did some serious damage despite the final result: Conner went 1-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Pannell went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Valley Falls' loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Horton, their victory bumped their record up to 5-12.
Horton came out on top in a nail-biter against Valley Falls in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, sneaking past 6-4. Do the Chargers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dragons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
