Even though the Durham Trojans have not done well against the Oroville Tigers recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Durham strolled past Oroville with points to spare, taking the game 53-38. For Durham, this counts as revenge for the 54-47 defeat Oroville walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2022.
Durham can attribute much of their success to Derek Mattern, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 10 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Doyle, who scored 13 points along with 3 steals.
Oroville's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ethan Broussard, who scored 17 points, and Jantzen Demitrial who scored 17 points.
Durham's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Oroville, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Durham will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Los Molinos at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Los Molinos focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Wednesday. As for Oroville, they will take on Pierce at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
