Riverside is 2-7 against Chardon since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Riverside Beavers will head out on the road to face off against the Chardon Hilltoppers at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Ohio (Riverside is ranked 50th, while Chardon is ranked 61st).
Last Friday, Riverside had just enough and edged Mayfield out 14-12.
Riverside's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Brady Mcknight, who picked up 80 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Mikey Maloney, who threw for 181 yards and two touchdowns.
Riverside's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. The heavy lifting was done by Cayden Calogar and Dom Kirks who racked up four sacks between them.
Meanwhile, Chardon got themselves on the board against North on Friday, but North never followed suit. They breezed by the Rangers at home to the tune of 56-0. The result was nothing new for Chardon, who have now won four matchups by 35 points or more so far this season.
Riverside's victory was their 12th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.2 points per game. As for Chardon, the victory was the third in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 6-3.
Riverside strolled past Chardon when the teams last played back in September of 2022 by a score of 21-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for Riverside since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
