The Wright City Wildcats will square off against the Fulton Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
If Wright City beats Fulton with 11 runs on Monday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Wildcats beat Elsberry on Monday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-5. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.
Carter Pierson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Wright City let Fin Parra and Tyler Martin run wild. Parra went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double, while Martin went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one double. Martin is becoming a predictor of Wright City's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 4-1 (and 12-14 when he doesn't). Kayden McCurdy also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.
Wright City lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since the start of last season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Fulton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They blew past Macon 8-2 on Wednesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Hornets as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.
Braden Hughes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had over his last three games. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Luke Holland and Gage Tiffany did most of the damage at the plate: Holland got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs, while Tiffany got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Blake Kennon was another key player, earning two RBI and one run.
Fulton's record now sits at 11-19. As for Wright City, they now have a winning record of 16-15.
Wright City came out on top in a nail-biter against Fulton in their previous meeting back in May of 2021, sneaking past 5-4. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hornets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
