The Florence Christian Eagles lost against the Christian Academy Saints on January 11th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The game between the pair wasn't particularly close, with Florence Christian falling 29-12. They have not had much luck with Christian Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Florence Christian saw an underclassman step up: Emerson Poston scored four points along with 15 rebounds and three steals. Poston hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games.
Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mary Claire MacDonald led the charge by scoring six points along with six assists and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Hodo, who scored eight points.
Florence Christian has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. As for Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Florence Christian will take on Carolina Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Carolina Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. Christian Academy will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Calvary Christian at 5:00 p.m. on January 29th.
