Marietta's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Frances Storey, who scored 17 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Storey is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Lyric Turner, who scored 9 points along with 6 steals and 5 assists.
Paulding County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hope Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now stole two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sara jo Ridings, who scored 10 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
Marietta now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Paulding County, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 3-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marietta will face off against Woodstock at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Woodstock is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Paulding County, they will head out on the road to face off against Hiram at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hiram is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
