Seton Catholic is 2-8 against University since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Cardinals will look to defend their home field against the Trailblazers at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Seton Catholic barely beat Liberty Christian the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cardinals never let the Lions get on the board and left with an 11-0 win on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cardinals considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
Tyson Tremain made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. He is becoming a predictor of Seton Catholic's success: when he posts at least eight strikeouts the team is 3-1 (and 1-5 when he doesn't). Tremain was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Colin Murray was incredible, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Seton Catholic: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-5 otherwise. Zack Robinson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for University, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Trailblazers in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won five in a row.
Finn Steiner looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, University let Cooper Cammack and Ryan Castetter run wild. Cammack went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Castetter went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Cammack has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Beckett Suh, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Seton Catholic's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for University, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Seton Catholic has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like University struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
