The Brownfield Cubs will head out on the road to square off against the Denver City Mustangs at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Texas (Brownfield is ranked 694th, while the Mustangs are ranked 671st).
Last Friday, Brownfield was able to grind out a solid victory over the Mules, taking the game 44-33. The win made it back-to-back wins for Brownfield.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Brownfield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Maya Martinez, who scored 13 points along with two steals. Alliey Coffey was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds and six assists.
Meanwhile, Denver City waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They blew past Dimmitt 58-34.
Brownfield's victory bumped their record up to 15-17. As for Denver City, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-14 record this season.
Brownfield came up short against the Mustangs in their previous meeting back in January, falling 42-37. Can Brownfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
