Vacaville and Pioneer are an even 3-3 against one another since March of 2015, but likely not for long. The Bulldogs will welcome the Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Vacaville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.1 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Vacaville made easy work of Rodriguez and carried off a 10-2 win. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Hayden Kyne was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Another player making a difference was Laila Dean, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Vacaville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in seven consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Pioneer waltzed into their game on Monday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Fighting Zebras a 4-0 shutout.
The result came thanks to Jia Beebe's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 14 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Marisa Bryson, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Abril Parker also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Vacaville pushed their record up to 12-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.3 runs over those games. As for Pioneer, their win bumped their record up to 16-4.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Vacaville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .429. However, it's not like Pioneer struggles in that department as they've averaged .369. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Vacaville came up short against Pioneer when the teams last played back in March, falling 5-2. Will the Bulldogs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
