The University Cougars will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Lake Nona Lions at 7:30 p.m. University will be strutting in after a win while Lake Nona will be coming in after a defeat.
University can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Lake Howell and snuck past 50-47. The victory was just what University needed coming off of a 60-35 defeat in their prior contest.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead University to victory, but perhaps none more so than Haley Caldwell, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Laura Martinez, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Lake Nona's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They fell to Olympia 58-53.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Aspen Wooten, who scored 14 points. Dakota Jean-Louis was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
University's victory bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Lake Nona, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.
Everything came up roses for University against Lake Nona in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 52-24 win. Will University repeat their success, or does Lake Nona have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
