There's no place like home for the Miami Trace Panthers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Wednesday. They managed a 42-38 win over Madison Plains on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Miami Trace also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why Madison Plains lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lyla Coil. Despite the final result, she scored 16 points along with five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Coil scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Kenzie Vallery, who scored six points along with ten rebounds.
Madison Plains struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Miami Trace's victory bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Madison Plains, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 3-8.
Miami Trace will square off against North Adams at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. North Adams presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Miami Trace in Ohio (North Adams is ranked 153rd, while Miami Trace is ranked 520th). Madison Plains will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Westfall at 7:30 p.m. on January 8th.
