The First Flight Nighthawks won the last time they faced the Manteo Redskins, and things went their way on Tuesday too. First Flight enjoyed a cozy 50-32 win over the Redskins. Given First Flight's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while the Redskins are ranked 431st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading First Flight to victory were Hailey Stanley and Abby Miles. Stanley scored 11 points along with eight rebounds, while Miles scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Miles has scored all season. Summer Stevens was another key contributor, scoring four points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
Manteo lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being CC Lowe, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Marcia McIntyre, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
First Flight's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3. As for Manteo, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. First Flight will take on the Bruins at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Camden County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Tuesday. As for Manteo, they will head out on the road to take on the Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Arianna White and Sydnee Ballance.
