The Eastmark Firebirds will be playing at home against the Mesquite Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Eastmark will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 28th, while Mesquite is ranked first).
Eastmark unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 57-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chandler.
Mesquite has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 21 points or more this season. They took their matchup at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 75-40 victory over Flagstaff. With Mesquite ahead 42-19 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Navae Guidry and Vanessa Sepulveda were among the main playmakers for Mesquite as the former dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds and the latter scored 25 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 steals. The contest was Sepulveda's sixth in a row with at least ten points. kahlia Gonzales was another key contributor, scoring 6 points along with 7 assists and 4 steals.
Eastmark's defeat dropped their record down to 7-1. As for Mesquite, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-0.
Eastmark took a serious blow against Mesquite when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 72-27.
