The CHESS Academy Knights entered their tilt with the Furlow Charter School Falcons with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. CHESS Academy took down the Falcons 60-44 on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as CHESS Academy also won the last time the pair played last Thursday.
Furlow Charter School's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaheim Walton, who scored 12 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Walton has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kamari Deriso, who scored seven points along with 16 rebounds and five blocks.
CHESS Academy's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points per game. As for Furlow Charter School, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-18.
CHESS Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Furlow Charter School will be playing at home against the at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Webster County has now lost 15 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 27.
