Softball Recap: Northtown's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Northtown dropped their record down to 4-7 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They lost 18-10 to the Woodlands Academy Wildcats. If the Pumas were looking for revenge after losing 16-0 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Woodlands Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

For Woodlands Academy's part, they let Evie Twohig and Sara Bult run wild. Twohig got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs, while Bult got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. The dominant performance also gave Twohig a new career-high in doubles (two). Savannah Gamache was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northtown will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Intrinsic Charter School Downtown Campus at 4:30 p.m. on the 16th. As for Woodlands Academy, they will host Regina Dominican at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
