Softball Recap: Hopewell Finds Home Field Redemption Against Quaker Valley

There's no place like home for Hopewell, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They put the hurt on the Quaker Valley Quakers with a sharp 11-4 win on Monday. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six runs or more this season.

Alana Covalt and Allison Ramaley were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Covalt tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Meanwhile, Ramaley tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Covalt scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3, while Ramaley went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple marked the first that Ramaley hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isabella Katkich, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Victoria Mann, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Hopewell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Hopewell pushed their record up to 5-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Quaker Valley, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.
