The Elko Indians entered their tilt with the Galena Grizzlies with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Elko took down Galena 45-26 on Saturday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Elko also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
Among those leading the charge was Bryleigh Cervantes, who scored 21 points along with 7 steals and 5 assists. Cervantes is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Roxanne Keim, who scored 7 points along with 10 rebounds and 4 steals.
Galena's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mia Turner, who scored 11 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 blocks. Turner scored a full 42.3% of Galena's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Elko's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Galena, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
Elko is on the road again on Saturday and play against Douglas at 12:00 p.m. on December 9th. Douglas is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games. As for Galena, they will square off against Pyramid Lake at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Pyramid Lake presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Galena in Nevada (Pyramid Lake is ranked ninth, while Galena is ranked 66th).
