The Anthem Prep Eagles will face off against the Ray Bearcats at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Anthem Prep blew Salome out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Monday Salome got their revenge. Anthem Prep fell just short of Salome by a score of 10-8. The loss was the Eagles' first of the season.
Bailey McCabe was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). What's more, she gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Rhyan Cantelme was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-2. Cantelme is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Grace Stillwell, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Even though they lost, Anthem Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .590 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Ray was able to grind out a solid victory over ALA - Anthem South on Friday, taking the game 14-11. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bearcats.
Ray let Julissa Garcia and Kaylee Servant run wild. Garcia got on base in five of her six plate appearances with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two doubles, while Servant scored four runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances. Servant continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Josselyn Lechuga, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Ray now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Anthem Prep, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Anthem Prep has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .664. However, it's not like Ray struggles in that department as they've averaged .607. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Anthem Prep might still be hurting after the 18-3 loss they got from Ray when the teams last played back in March of 2022. Can Anthem Prep avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
