This season hasn't been kind to Providence Classical, who are still winless after their fourth matchup. They were the victim of a rough 65-41 loss at the hands of East Central HomeSchool on Friday. While losing is never fun, Providence Classical can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 323rd, while East Central HomeSchool is ranked 113th).
East Central HomeSchool's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Micah Coalson, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten assists. Coalson is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Emma Nelson, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Providence Classical's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for East Central HomeSchool, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Providence Classical will be playing in front of their home fans against Cornerstone Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cornerstone Christian will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. East Central HomeSchool won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Mt. Pleasant Christian at 1:30 p.m. on January 13th. Mt. Pleasant Christian is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
