It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Centennial Huskies can now relate to. They were just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 43-42 to St. John Bosco. Centennial's defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Centennial lost, one person who can't be blamed is Cornell Hatcher, Jr. . Despite the final result, he rushed for 215 yards and five touchdowns. Hatcher, Jr. hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for nine straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Husan Longstreet, who threw for 294 yards and a touchdown.
Caleb Sanchez went supernova for St. John Bosco, throwing for 345 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 16.4 yards per attempt. Stacy Dobbins also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Centennial's loss dropped their record down to 9-3. As for St. John Bosco, their victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1.
Centennial does not have any more games scheduled as of now. St. John Bosco will stay at home for another week and welcome Mater Dei at 7:00 p.m. on November 24th. One thing working in Mater Dei's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last four matches.
