Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Grayson County). Everything went their way against the Butler County Bears on Wednesday as they made off with a 20-10 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Cougars, who have now won three games in a row.
Jake Bratcher made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Grayson County got a massive performance out of Gage Napier, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most doubles Napier has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cameron Fulkerson, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Grayson County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Grayson County's record is now 13-11. As for Butler County, their loss dropped their record down to 15-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grayson County will host Muhlenberg County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
