Softball Game Preview: Richmond Bobcats vs. Temple Academy Bereans

Richmond is a perfect 10-0 against Temple Academy since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Bobcats will face off against the Bereans at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Richmond and nine for Temple Academy.

On Tuesday, Richmond didn't have quite enough to beat Old Orchard Beach and fell 7-6.

Breonna Dufresne made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Emma Valley was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Temple Academy's offense. They came up short against Carrabec on Tuesday, falling 30-0.

Temple Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madyson Ellis, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases. Karis Louis also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Temple Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Richmond, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Richmond has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Temple Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Richmond took their win against Temple Academy in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 26-2 score. Do the Bobcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bereans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
