Spoto extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 12 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-11. They lost 8-0 to the Seffner Christian Crusaders. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spartans of the 13-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2025.
Eli Sims and Levert Sims Jr did some serious damage despite the final result: Sims went 2-for-5 with five stolen bases, four RBI, and one run, while Sims Jr went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three doubles, and two runs. Nathan Rodriguez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
As for Seffner Christian, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-8-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games.
On Seffner Christian's side, Rylan Rizzardi made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Rizzardi was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with four runs and two RBI. He has become a key player for Seffner Christian: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-8-1 otherwise.
In other batting news, Camden McBane was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Silvey, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Spoto didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 13-4 defeat against Chamberlain on the 18th. As for Seffner Christian, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Grace Christian at 4:30 p.m. on the 30th.
