Lyla Wescoat (2027) made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. That stolen base was her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kylee Bergman (2025) Salisbury, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Elizabeth Marcum (2027), who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.
Bohemia Manor was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Edgewood only posted a batting average of .167.
Meanwhile, Tome came up short against Oxford on Tuesday, falling 13-3. The Titans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Tome saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addison Woods, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
The win made it two in a row for Bohemia Manor and bumps their season record up to 5-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Tome, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
Bohemia Manor was able to grind out a solid win over Tome when the teams last played back in May of 2016, winning 5-2. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Titans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
