Basketball Game Preview: O'Bannon Greenwaves vs. Leflore County Tigers

O'Bannon hasn't had much luck against Leflore County recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The O'Bannon Greenwaves will welcome the Leflore County Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Back in December of 2024, O'Bannon didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against West Bolivar, but they still walked away with a 57-52 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Greenwaves.

O'Bannon had a senior duo take command as Tylan Phillips went 7 for 12 on his way to 19 points in addition to seven boards and four blocks and Lou Sanders went 6 of 10 on his way to 18 points and five assists. With that strong performance, Phillips is now averaging an impressive 2.1 blocks per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Cordario Calvin, who posted seven points and five rebounds.

O'Bannon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Leflore County hadn't done well against Riverside recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Leflore County enjoyed a cozy 56-41 victory over Riverside.

Leflore County is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.6 points per game. As for O'Bannon, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.

O'Bannon was dealt a bruising 66-25 loss at the hands of Leflore County in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can O'Bannon avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
